About this book

This guide was created by Annissa Stout, the University Libraries’ Fall 2025 Accessibility Intern for Digital Publishing. Annissa works as an accessibility consultant for EdPros Digital and is earning her master’s in library science through the University of Arizona’s College of Information.

This guide is designed to help authors and editors meet a federal April 2026 deadline for ensuring that web content and mobile apps are accessible to people with disabilities. As a Pressbooks administrator, editor, or author, you are responsible for ensuring that your books (both public and private) meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Version 2.1 AA standards. This guide explains those standards and how Pressbooks’ built-in tools can help you meet them.
