University Resources

There are a variety of resources to help you at the University of Arizona. Here are a few to get you started:

  • THINK TANK
    THINK TANK is the University of Arizona’s centralized academic support center that offers tutoring, supplemental instruction, a writing support, academic coaching, and more!

    • Academic Coaching
      Meet with a coach one-on-one in-person or online to discuss your goals, any challenges you may be encountering,
      potential strategies for learning, or other campus resources that will aid you in achieving your academic and non-academic goals.
    • Tutoring
      Receive in-person and online academic content support for select math, science, business, and statistics courses.
    • Writing Center
      Receive feedback on your writing (academic and non-academic like e-mails, resumes and cover letters) and tutors who are committed to helping you develop your writing skills and knowledge over the course of your academic career. They have in-person and tutoring on Zoom. You can receive asynchronous feedback through the Feedback Loop. Also, watch for fun Write Nite events on the website!
  • Thrive Center
    The Thrive Center provides support for undergraduates who identify as:

    • first-generation college students,
    • coming from low-income households,
    • someone who has not found connections on campus.
    • Join the 50! find your college friends and community! Whether you’re looking to connect with people who share your interests, come from a similar background as you, or grew-up near you, you’re sure to make friends by joining one of The 50!
  • Academic Advisor
    Your Academic Advisor will help you determine your degree requirements, what classes you need to take, and what prerequisites you need to meet on your academic journey.

      • To find your Academic Advisor go to:
        • UAccess > Student Center > Advising > View my Advisor.
      • Plan to meet with your Academic Advisor at least 6 weeks before time for registration, so that you can plan your next semester successfully.
  • Campus HealthMedical care (accepts many insurances and the U of A student insurance), information on many health issues and resources to help you during your time here at the University of Arizona.
    • SHADE (Student Health Alcohol & Drug Education — a 3-week, once per week class to educate yourself about drugs, alcohol, and use of Narcan. Anyone can take the class, not just those who are mandated by an RA or Dean of Students. Sign up here.
    • Survivor Support Services — confidential, individualized support for any student who has been subjected to interpersonal violence, regardless of when or where it occurred.
  • Disability Resource Center (DRC)
    The DRC provides support when the design of academic and campus experiences propose barriers, and helps to determine what accommodations may be necessary.

  • Handshake  — a free online career hub that gives all students access to job and internship postings on and off campus, career fairs, etc.
  • SafeCats — Campus Safety app. Includes things like Friend Walk, Mobile BlueLight, Social Escape, Reporting of threats, Campus map and resources.
  • SafeRide — Free rides for students on and close to campus at night. Download the app and get to your destination safely!
  • CATalyst Studios
    Located within the U of A Main Library, CATalyst Studios provides students with access to:

  • Campus Recreation
    Campus Rec provides students with the opportunity to focus on their health and well-being by:

    • giving students access to gym equipment,
    • individual and group fitness classes,
    • sports,
    • aquatics,
    • outdoor adventures and
    • well-being classes.

There are 3 locations available to students:

      1. South Rec (south of Sixth St.)
      2. North Rec (north of Speedway Blvd.)
      3. Bear Down Rec (In Bear Down Building)

Finding Your People

Finding community at a large college requires intention. Check out these places where you can meet people with similar goals, focus and/or enthusiasm!

  • Clubs, Student Organizations, and Activities
    There are over 400 clubs to choose from! Your Academic Coach can help you narrow it down!

    • Major-Specific Clubs
      Check with your department or your Academic Coach to discover clubs or organizations on campus that are connected to your major or career or interests.
  • Dorms
    • Get Involved!
      There are many options for getting involved in the housing community.
    • Cats After Dark 
      Participate in structured late night events on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night
    • Get to know your neighbors on the whole floor – they are your community!
  • Campus Recreation
    Sports for fun or find a club sport for more competition. 3 different workout spaces on campus which include a pool, group fitness classes and/or personal training.
