Welcome to the University of Arizona! This is an exciting time of change and growth in your life. Setting yourself up with a good foundation by discovering what study strategies work best for you is a good place to start. You will be introduced to many ideas and learning strategies as you go through this book. By taking the time to read it and work through the exercises, you will be learning things that will help you the rest of your life—not just while you are in college. Research has given us many techniques for improving student learning and success. By practicing these skills, you will be able to find what works best for you to help support you along this path.
Also, welcome to UNIV 100! This is a co-requisite course to MATH 100 and is designed to give you learning strategies to help you in math, as well as all of your courses. You will have time each week to work with a math tutor during class time.
This is a 1-credit course that does count in your GPA. It’s designed to be easy but informative.
Components of the class include:
- Class time each week to work on ALEKS with an in-class tutor to answer questions.
- The opportunity to learn study skills, relationship skills and, most importantly, how you can succeed in Math.
What You Can Expect From This Book
This book has many topics; some will apply to you, some won’t. Keep an open mind—a topic might be more helpful than you initially thought. Take and use what is helpful to you.
