Book Information

Book Description

Immersive technologies, such as augmented reality, virtual reality, and 360-videos are commonly used in education. According to a current literature review (Czerkawski & Ardito, 2021), however, immersive technologies are mostly used in medical and health sciences while they have the potential to benefit all academic disciplines through active learning experiences. For new technologies such as immersive technologies to be effective, instructors need to learn which tools to use, see examples of their uses in their subject matter areas, and understand the curricular integration processes.

The purpose of this e-book is to discuss immersive technologies in the context of intercultural competence and language instruction to inspire and revamp L2 learning environments. Although the book is intended for all language instructors, technology integration examples are drawn from the Ukrainian language and culture to promote this less commonly taught language.
